KY ACLU Director leaving state

The good news is that the Kentucky ACLU is losing its executive director. The bad news is that there will be a replacement.

And you really write books on logic. Really?

Really.

Martin,

I find the anonymous comments to your posts generally negative, and assume they are probably from the same one or two individuals. You can do what you want with your blog, but I think you should block any anonymous comments. If people cannot attach their name to public comments they ought to remain quiet, in my opinion. I find it cowardly for people to hide in the shadows of anonymity. If I agree with you - or on those occasions when we agree - I will certainly say so with my name attached or else remain quiet.

Correction - the last line of my post should read -

Why should I attach my name when I comment on a moronic post like this? I choose to remain anonymous because I don't wan't my name associated with the silly comment about the ACLU Director made by the logician blog owner. If Mr. Cothran doesn't like it, then he can take away the ability to post anonymously.

David,

I have considered doing what you suggest, and I agree that the failure to identify yourself in a blog post is a fairly clear indication of a lack of courage. Then again, I don't see it as a disservice to allow people to demonstrate that they lack it. There are two advantages to that: 1) I think that's informative; 2) I don't have to take the trouble of pointing it out myself.

Anonymous seems to have something that he wants to say about the fact that I have written several logic books. The only thing I have gathered so far is that he doesn't like it. Maybe he could explain why. I'll even allow him to do it without identifying himself, since that seems important to him.

His other point seems to be that the post is silly. Okay. I don't necessarily disagree with that. Something can be silly and true; it can even be silly and logical. Besides, it's my blog: I can make silly posts if I want. I'll admit to being silly. Maybe that will inspire him to admit that he lacks courage.
