Are the Democrats sure they want this?

I suppose the taunting that the McCain-Palin campaign is receiving for holding their lipsticked pit bull on a tight leash is viewed as beneficial by the Obama campaign, but I wonder...

One of the reasons Palin has gotten the press she has gotten is because she keeps exceeding the low expectations the Democrats keep setting for her. Are they doing the same thing again with interviews with the press? They're going around giving everyone the impression that she can't speak off script and knows absolutely nothing about issues. So now all she needs to do is show up in a non-comatose state and she exceeds the expectations here political opponents have set for her.

Good job, guys.

She could bomb, of course, but I wonder what Obama's campaign strategists will be saying to themselves if she shows up on World News Tonight later this week and exceeds the expectations once again.

C'mon, Martin, how long can it take to memorize three or four 15 sec sound bytes to toss at any question that is asked? I mean, I know not everyone can be as lucky as Rudy (how will you lower taxes? - 9/11! what about climate change? -9/11!), but still, she should be able to do one or two cue cards better than Dubya.

I mean, she was a pageant contestant. She could start with "world peace" ....

... Obama has said very little about Palin herself, and has referred mostly her positions as being incorrect. This is smart, because if he makes this about personality he's in a popularity contest with a former beauty pageant runner up...

Obama thinks that if the election is about the positions of each camp and their record, he wins easily. And he's probably right, though the McCain camp has been fairly vague on their particular policies (oh, except how they're going to make the country stronger and how Obama doesn' put America first).

Obama has done no taunting that I can see of Palin or McCain; now compare that to Palin's speech, which among other things, demeaned community service workers. Biden likewise has been respectful of Palin, at least on Meet the Press, and when he attacks he does it on issues and record.

And if you haven't been paying attention to the internet recently, Palin's "fiscal conservative" image is complete bs.

Yeah, it looks more and more as if Palin's position is closer to "tax and spend evangelical", with a pretty moderate position on social issues. At least, that's her record in AK, as it were.

Lee, I'm really starting to feel your pain.

Hmm...

"Tax and spend evangelical". Closer to a moderate than a far-right conservative on social issues. I've heard this description before....

OMG!! McCain has found a Republican version of Jimmy Carter.

This election gets more fascinating as time passes.
