Republicans pass the first half of their first test, House members vote against bailout

Although the Detroit bailout passed the House, it was mostly along party lines and all but 32 Republicans voted against it.  Now let's see how the Senate does.

I don't know for certain, but I would wager at least a modest amount that this is all a done deal. Detroit is going to get its bailout. The Republicans are on board, but want to keep up appearances. So along the way there will be apparent bumps in the road that were actually engineered to be part of it.
