If you check out Nate Silver's fivethirtyeight blog on the New York Times, the polling on this issue over the years shows steadily growing support for same sex marriage. So if your point is that the popular vote should decide, be prepared to accept that as today's older voters die off, these votes are going to start going in favor of same sex marriage, perhaps as soon as this year.

The margins are getting narrower as time goes by.

Wait, I'm getting confused here, Martin. One day you proclaim in a press release that Obama is changing his position to win voters - I quote: 'It's a funny thing about politicians whose views 'evolve' on controversial issues, they always seem to evolve in the direction in which the political winds are blowing."

And the next day? You tell us that the political winds are blowing right in Obamas face?

Seems like logic has been momentarily suspended once again.

Singring,

You just don't like distinctions at all, do you?

I was very careful to say, in one part of the press release, "in the direction in which" the winds were blowing," and in another part refer to the way people "still vote."

You apparently are not aware of the distinction between the direction something is moving and the location it is currently in.

And you say you're a scientist?

So you are claiming that Obama, in an election year, is being a populist by adopting a position that according to you is still opposed by the majority of Americans?

Yes, and up is down and down is up around these parts, I guess.
